The Davylux outdoor lighting system uses 24 volts DC, which is considered SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage). SELV occurs at DC voltages below 120V and AC voltages below 50V. The European standard EN 50110 has determined this as safe, as there is no risk of electrocution, burns or electric arcs at these voltages.
This safe low voltage was deliberately chosen because it entails numerous advantages. With the help of the Davylux PSU, the 230 volt voltage that comes from the socket is converted to the safe 24 volt low voltage.
No electrician or other specialist is required for the installation of the Davylux system. Everything can be easily and safely installed by yourself or by your gardener. In addition to the fact that the system can be installed by anyone without any risks, it is also completely plug & play. Simply connect your Davylux outdoor lighting yourself and you'll be ready in no time.
Have you just finished installing your Davylux outdoor lighting and do you want something different? No problem! The Davylux system is flexible and can be easily repositioned. This is also possible if you want to add lamps to your garden later. Thanks to the safe 24 volt low voltage, everything can easily be moved or expanded, without the risk of shocks.
For safety reasons, regular electricity cables should always be buried at a depth of at least 60cm. With safe low voltage this is not required, so that the cables of the Davylux system do not have to be buried. This saves a lot of work and unnecessary mess. Of course, cables can still be laid under a layer of soil to neatly hide them.
Under the safe low voltage, everything falls under 50V AC and 120V DC. Nevertheless, the Davylux system has deliberately chosen 24V instead of 12V. The reason for this is that 24V brings additional benefits. For example, at 24V a greater distance can be bridged between the power supply (PSU) and the lamp. This makes it possible to work with longer cables. Lamps can be placed up to 150 meters from the power supply (it should be taken into account that the lamps are still connected to each other for the control). In addition, 24V is very constant and reliable, because there is a larger range in which loss of voltage may occur.
